Fine Arts & Performing Arts

At Calvary Christian Schools, we believe the arts are a gift from our Creator
as well as an effective way for students to express their creativity while glorifying God.

The Art of Education

Our CCS Fine Arts Program exists to inspire and develop young musicians, artists and performers in a Christ-centered environment that focuses on and encourages students to explore a variety of artistic disciplines. These creative outlets allow our students to build confidence, think critically, and to express ideas that reflect God’s beauty and truth. At CCS, we engage in the arts because we honor the Artist — the Creator of all things.

It is the goal of Calvary Christian Schools to equip students with real-world creative skills while encouraging them to use their talents to glorify the Kingdom. Whether a student plans to pursue the arts professionally or simply wants to grow in creative expression, our CCS Fine Arts Program provides a fun and encouraging space where they can be inspired, challenged and find purpose in the gifts God’s given us.

Performing Arts

Our performance arts program put on over ten public performances a year including our annual Veteran’s and Grandparents Day Concert (November), fall play, fall concert, spring musical and concert and many more! These creative outlets allow students to build confidence, think critically, and express ideas that reflect God’s beauty and truth all while delivering messages rooted in faith.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts are a vital part of the Fine Arts education at Calvary Christian Schools. Through painting, drawing, crafts, ceramics, photography, videography, and more, our students learn the aesthetics of perspective, composition, color, balance, and structure while developing their gifts of imagination and creativity. Each of our students is encouraged to explore their artistic interests and develop them to their fullest extent.

Instrumental

At Calvary Christian Schools we know how music contributes to our students’ success. Studying instrumental music and learning to play an instrument contribute to the overall cognitive development of students and build lifelong skills that will benefit them in many facets of their lives. It has been shown that students who study music have overall higher test scores in math and science. Learning to play an instrument develops a student’s aural skills, as well as their motor skills and dexterity. Ensemble playing develops teamwork, organization, leadership, and discipline.

Vocal

Calvary Christian offers a thorough education in the Vocal Arts. Our students gain a systematic introduction to choral music that progresses over time to include the fundamentals of singing technique: warming up the voice, proper breath support, and vocal placement. Through choral singing, students learn to read music, to understand tempo, rhythm, and harmony. They are exposed to an array of musical styles from the classics to modern. They learn performance techniques, musical dynamics, and an appreciation for the colors and qualities of music written in the various keys and modes.
